Alpha Gamma Delta - Summer 2019!
Updated: Jul 24, 2020
This summer our members expanded their horizons by studying abroad across several continents and gained experience with internships in their selected fields! Now with the school year in full swing we couldn't wait for recruitment and BID DAY!!
Our Favorite Time of the Year!
After an eventful summer our sisters came back together in Athens for a energy packed work week that prepared us for a great recruitment! PC' 18 is so excited for their year in the house and getting to meet all the amazing PNMs!
Meeting the PNMs
-------------------------------- Round 1 of recruitment was a blast - we were able to meet all of the Potential New Members and introduce them to our amazing sisterhood! Pictured here from left to right are Vice President of Recruitment - Anna Catherine Alderman, President - Olivia Profita, and Assistant Recruitment Chair - Jordan Gayle.

Fighting Food Insecurity
----------------------------------- Round 2 of recruitment is near and dear to our hearts as Alpha Gams because we get to talk to the PNMs about all of the philanthropic efforts that we are involved in throughout the year! Specifically our fall and spring philanthropy events, Week of Service, and our support of the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and the Food Bank of NE Georgia. Please check out our Philanthropy Film below, which was shared during the second round!

Alpha Gam, this is the spot!
----------------------------------- During Round 3, we love showing the Potential New Members our beautiful home! 530 S Milledge is not a house but a home full of lasting and special memories with our sisters. From movie nights in the tv room to late night study sessions in the chapter room, our members have the time of their life living here! In addition to talking about the history and memories in the house we emphasis the strong sisterhood that Alpha Gam embodies: such as this cute big/little pairing, Kylie and Ali!

Preferential Round
------------------------------------ Round 4, the last round before Bid Day, is when we share what Alpha Gam means to us and the lasting impact that Alpha Gamma Delta has on each member. Sisters write letters to each other and read them for the first time in front of the PNMs, sharing what they mean to each other and how Alpha Gam has made a difference in their lives.

Alpha Gam: Party like it's your Bid Day!!
----------------------------------- We were beyond excited to welcome 78 new Alpha Gams to our lawn to celebrate bid day: a pastel party that not even a little rain could bring down!

~Summer Adventures~
-----------------------------------
Before reuniting for recruitment in August, our sisters were spread out all over the world for study abroad programs and internships.
Riley Carraher, PC '17, interned at Easter Seals, a branch of Americorps that works with people of varying ability levels. "My experience at Easter Seals was one of personal growth and guidance development. I learned so much about personal care, communication, and behavior management. Being able to fully immerse myself in direct service and learn new, vital life skills was an experience I will never forget." Riley also studied abroad in Australia and New Zealand apart of a Maymester program. Go Riley!

Julia Deaton, PC '17, interned with Lori Allen, the owner of Bridals by Lori and the star of Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta! "Throughout the summer I have had the awesome opportunity to work with Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta Star and Bridals by Lori owner, Lori Allen! I have been working with her social media, and have had the opportunity to gain experience creating content and schedules for her various social media accounts, and developing content for her brand new website!" Julia is also the social media director for Alpha Gam and is using the skills she learned this summer to assist in the revamping of the Alpha Gam brand!

Leighton Parker, PC '16, studied abroad in Cortona, Italy this summer as a part of the UGA Cortona Summer Through Program that focuses on art and Italian culture classes. "Studying abroad with an art program taught me the need to take time to express myself. I realized how much I loved learning about people's stories and I plan to live abroad because of this wonderful experience. I made some life-long friendships and I can't wait to travel with those same friends in the future." Leighton is using this amazing experience to further her career and gain inspiration for Alpha Gamma Delta merchandise as our Merchandising Director!
