meet the philanthropy team
Our 2019 philanthropy team is composed of four roles that work together seamlessly to promote philanthropy and service both inside and outside of our chapter. Led by the Vice President of Philanthropy, Anna Helen McKelvey, the philanthropy team plans two large philanthropy events each year with other service opportunities throughout. Our main events benefit the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, whose focus is fighting food insecurity, while more local efforts support our community in Athens, Georgia. Our three directors work together to promote service opportunities on campus, plan service events for the chapter, and coordinate fundraising opportunities for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation.

the alpha gamma delta foundation
In the Gamma Alpha chapter, we strive each year to benefit the local community through our dedication to service and fundraising. With our partners, Meals on Wheels and Feeding America, the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation is fueled by our sisters' passion to fight hunger in Athens, Georgia. Every year we host two events to raise money for the foundation, volunteer countless hours at the UGA Student Pantry, host Blood Drives at our house and fit in as much service and donations as we can to help end Athens' hunger. Last year we raised over $14,000 for our cause!
This year we held the 8th annual Mr. Milledge on September 18, 2019 at the Georgia Theatre. One of UGA's most popular philanthropy events, Mr. Milledge is a fraternity pageant that consists of representatives from each UGA fraternity who compete with their best game day outfit, best pick-up line, and unique talent. They try to impress our guests and our panel of judges which included Tyler Simmons and Brian Herrien this year. We are extremely proud to have raised over $9,300 for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation from this event! Christopher Dickson of Phi Delta Theta won Crowd Favorite, John Skibiel of Pi Kappa Alpha won Mr. Congeniality, and Jeremiah de Sesto of Beta Upsilon Chi was crowned Mr. Milledge.
week of service
FEBRUARY 10 - FEBRUARY 16
Each year, Alpha Gamma Delta chapters participate in Week of Service. At chapter meetings during Week of Service, each pledge class participates in a different service activity that benefits an organization in the Athens area. This year our chapter was especially involved in Relay for Life, the Athens Humane Society, the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, Food2Kids, Shop with a Bulldawg, and UGA Miracle to give back to our community. Overall, our sisters have earned over 5,000 service hours this year.
alpha gam jam
This year we teamed up with UGA fraternity Kappa Sigma to bring students the best barbecue and music Milledge Avenue has to offer. Featuring live performances from Jacob Mallow, CLOUDLAND, and our very own Aspen Anonda, the event was an absolute hit. We are very pleased to announce that we raised over $11,474 for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation and Kappa Sigma's philanthropy, Military Heroes!
ON & OFF CAMPUS
Not only are our sisters passionate about the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, but they also are some of the most highly involved students in UGA's various philanthropies. We are very proud of our sisters who serve as members and executive officers in UGA Miracle, Relay for Life, UGA Wesley, Free the Girls, UGA Heroes, Extra Special People, Whatever it Takes, Shop With A Bulldawg, and more. This year, our sisters on UGA Miracle raised a stunning $28,285 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Off campus, our sisters are dedicated to volunteering their time at Athens-Clarke County Mentoring Program, Athens Canine Rescue and Athens Piedmont Regional Hospital.
